THE COUNSELLING CONTRACT
The counselling contract is a negotiated between myself and the client. Some of the things we negotiate include:
I am a registered and accredited member (MBACP) of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their ethical and moral standards.
I am ethically and morally bound not to breach confidentiality from therapeutic relationship. However, I am required as part of my ethical responsibilities to clients to have regular supervision. In supervision of my practice I will explore issues from my practice though at such times I take all measures to preserve individual anonymity of clients.
I am also required by law to breach confidentiality in certain circumstances such as if the client discloses terrorist activity, serious crime or child abuse, or when there is a risk that a client’s action may cause serious harm to themselves or others.
